Chinese magazine issues Korean literature special

Daesan Foundation (www.daesan.or.kr) said on Wednesday a leading Chinese literary magazine has issued a special edition covering Korean literature and representative authors.

“Writer Magazine,” an authoritative Chinese literary magazine (‘Zuojia’ in Chinese), has published the special April issue of Korean contemporary literature, featuring 44 works by 28 Korean writers.

The April edition has been funded by Daesan, a foundation which has long supported the promotion of Korean literature overseas by offering grants to translators and organizing translation awards.

Korean and Chinese editors have worked together to select and translate Korean novels and poems into Chinese.

The writers featured in the issue include Choi Su-cheol, Yoon Dae-nyeong, Park Myeong-ae, Chung Young-moon, Choi Il-nam, Suh Ha-jin, Park Beom-shin, Shin Kyung-sook, Ahn Do-hyun, Kim Hye-soon, Kim Yoen-soo.

The magazine, launched in 1956, is an influential publication in the Chinese literary circles, and about 280,000 copies of the special edition will be distributed in and outside China.
